Who We Are
A grass roots effort, The Lucas County Trauma Informed Care Coalition was formed in early 2015 following a state-wide movement related to reduce the impact of trauma. The initial goal of the coalition was to bring awareness of trauma and trauma-informed care principles to our surrounding community. We soon recognized the need was far greater, and now strive to create an integrated system of care that effectively identifies, responds to, and educates the community. Dozens of agencies and organizations were invited to come to the table. Within a very short time, our Coalition swelled to more than 50 participants, including mental health and substance abuse treatment agencies, schools, courts, community members, peers, and much more. Led by an advisory board, the Coalition is working towards three primary goals and will continue to advocate for the advancement of trauma-informed care in the Greater Toledo area.
