Day 2 Overview – Helping the Helpers: Workforce Resilience – May 2, 2017
A welcome address will be provided by Mark Hurst, MD, Medical Director OhioMHAS; Tracy Plouck, OhioMHAS, Director; and John Martin, DODD, Director. The program will kick off with a keynote address, Through My Eyes, by a person with lived experience. The opening keynote will be followed by Dr. Kenneth Yeager, Director of Ohio State’s The STAR (Stress, Trauma and Resilience) Program. Dr. Yeager is an Associate Professor – Clinical in the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Health at The Ohio State University. Dr. Yeager’s focus will be on: Build Resilience: Individual Response to Workplace Stressors
The morning keynotes will be followed by an afternoon session focused on structured discussions regarding trauma exposure; strategies to deal with trauma; secondary traumatic stress (STS) impact; strategies to deal with STS; and workforce resilience. The afternoon will conclude with a panel of Ohio experts from a variety of disciplines (behavioral health, child welfare, developmental disabilities, hospitals, law enforcement, 1st responders) to share strategies, best practices, research around keeping the workforce healthy.
