Day 1 Overview – Trauma Competent Care – May 1, 2017
A welcome address will be provided by Mark Hurst, MD, Medical Director OhioMHAS; Tracy Plouck, OhioMHAS, Director; and John Martin, DODD, Director. The program will kick off with a keynote by Dr. Lisa M. Najavits, PhD, author of Seeking Safety: A Treatment Manual for PTSD and Substance Abuse. Dr. Najavits is a nationally known researcher, lecturer, and instructor in the field of trauma informed care. Lisa was also the chair of SAMHSA’s Consensus Panel that developed TIP 57. This will be followed by a panel of persons with lived experience who will share their personal stories. After lunch, two sessions of eight various topical workshops will be offered and led by Ohio’s trauma informed care champions.
